Been busy with the situation with my dad and all that. Well school is over and I can consitrat on the magazine and some other things that I have planned in the future. I'm still looking for patterns later this week I'll be uploading a contract that will be in a zip file that you can e-mail me back with the pattern once you recieve it. It's just to protect not only me but you as well. Will announce when it's uploaded. :)

Christina for the new name of the site. The Magazine will now be called Crochet For Kicks. I really like this name. Also a brand new website will is currently being made. I'm not too happy with Freewebs after what I heard on their forum so I'm working on a Tripod website that will be up sometime in August so stay tuned for that. Anyway congrats again Christina. New Name

I've decided on a new name for the magazine. The announcement will come soon but I'm working on a new site to get it updated and moving everything over there. You will find out the new name withen the next 2 weeks (If I get everything done that I need to).

Well in two weeks I will be working on the magazine full time as my classes will be over for the semester. I will be taking the summer off and taking classes again in the fall. I have more details in a longer post in a few days. My dad is doing well and more details will be in my personal blog later today probley.

Deadline and advertisers

Submissions for the Fall Issue are Auguest 1st. Why so late you may ask? Well that gives people plenty of time of getting their submissions just perfect also it gets me able to focus on the layout and be able to get all the advertising all set up. My first pattern which will be up either tomarrow or Friday will be up tomarrow will be re-published in the first issue. A picture of the pattern is up on the website right now if you are interested in seeing a sneak peak of it.

Honestly the past few weeks have been hell (sorry for the use of the word but that's what it's been). If you been reading my person blog then you have heard that my father has colon cancer. Chemo starts soon, he's in good sprits and is taking it well. He and my mom went to Shabbat Services (We are Jewish) on Saturday and the Rabbi was very happy to see him.

Add in school and I've been very busy. Tomarrow I plan on working on adding more pictures to the site and hopefully get my first published pattern up. Stay tuned for more details on the site.

New Name for Magazine

Withen the next few weeks the magazine will be getting a new name. The reason being is I have recently found out that there is a website whose url is very simlar to Crochet For Fun's name. Because of this I need to find a new name. So if you have a name that would be great please let me know on the comment area and you name will be mentioned in the first issue of the magazine. Also an update on my family emergancy will be coming on my personal blog later on today.

A little update

Sorry for the delay guys right now just a little update. If you have been reading the blog since the beggining a family emergancy has come up. Well hopefully withen the next week or so the family member that is in the hospital should be coming home. I will be working my tail off to get the first issue out on time. I still haven't recieve any submissions yet but there is still plenty of time to do so. I will have some more pictures up onto the site withen the next week as well. Family Emergancy

I had a Family Emergancy come up within the past few days (to read please read this), but so far everything is ok. I'm re-working a few things in the layout (new cover, my opening letter ect.) but it should still be out in late August.

I'm hoping to start having submissions in withen the next few weeks so I can look at them try to find pattern testers and possibly making my own pattern. I'll try to take some screenshots before the issue goes up for a preview of the issue.

Anyway the revamp is going well so far. It may not seem to be big changes but I'm going to be adding more pictures which is my second call that if you would like to send pictures of crochet please send it to the e-mail address.

I'm also working on the layout some more and can't wait to recieve submissions. I'm going to try to design myself, but knowing me I'll mess up. :( Oh well. I won't be updating the site on Sunday as other then being Easter, it's my dad's birthday (We MIGHT be going into Philadelphia that day to see the Flyers play but since he's a Rangers fan and they aren't playing them so we probley won't go).

Also if you have written a crochet book, I can review that as well. Please e-mail me for more details.

With Spring Break around the corner the upgrades to the site will be happening in the next few days the good news is that the site has gotten some positive press and I can not wait for the first issue to come out. I'll be MIA the next few days as I have to really rush to get my dad's birthday present done but it won't be done in time. That's partially my fault for not picking up steam but I'm also trying to bash my stash so that I can get some more on Saturday at my local A.C. Moore (Even though there is an LYS near me it's more knitting friendly then crochet so I don't go there that often). I'm also working on more of my own projects to put up on the site.

This leads to an announcement:
I'm allowing readers to submit pictures of projects that they have finished to be added to the You Made That? section of the magazine. Withen the next few weeks I'll announce the closing date for submissions for the Fall/Winter 08 issue (OUR FIRST ISSUE!) submissions.

Layout

Is underway! I'm really excited on how it will turn out. Hopefully great but it all depends on me and possibly a few editors. (If you are interested in being an editor please contact me at crochetforfun@gmail.com)

Spring Break starts next Thursday so I'm really excited that I'll have over a week to work on the site plus the layout some more. For you Southern Hemisphere crocheters, I am accepting garment patterns that relate to Spring/Summer while it's the Northern Hemisphere's Fall/Winter.

Next few weeks

The site will be getting a major overhaul over the next few weeks. I will be starting on Wednesday as that will be my day off of school and take place over the next four weeks. Some of the plans include:

Admending the submission requirements
Letting people send in photos of finished objects to be featured on the site
Setting up a gallery
Starting to put together the cover which you will decide!

I'm also starting to work on the layout of the first issue so I'm keeping myself busy with this and school.

I decided that I was very happy of what the site looked like and to put it up. That way I can start accepting submissions early for the magazine. I'm hoping this will turn into a huge sucess but we shall see how it goes. The site will be going under renovations throughout the next few weeks but that should not effect the first issue at all. I'll be adding some crocheted items that I have made, a gallery of samples of the patterns that will be in issues and much more. So stay tuned here and the website for more details!

Working on the site

I got some more work on the site today. So far it's looking great! I'm going to take some photos of a project I'm currently working on myself for the site so that it looks pretty. As of right now the launch date is looking to be April 1st. That way everyone can work on their projects over the summer and have them submitted by July 3rd (Hopefully).

Well this is where I'll be shareing updates about the magazine from time to time. I'll also be sharing some details about my own crocheting.
